Wood Care

One reason we fell in love with wooden products is their sense of timelessness in the home – they are meant to be used, loved and most importantly easy to care for. By following these few simple care methods, you can keep your pieces looking and smelling their best for years to come!

Never soak wood products in water

When washing your wooden items wipe them with a clean damp cloth. Be sure to never fully submerge or soak wooden products in water. This can cause the wood to warp, dry out or crack.

Condition your board regularly

Wooden items will need to be re-treated over time with a food safe wood wax or oil to prevent them from cracking or drying out. Avoid using olive and vegetable oils, as they can go rancid with time. For best results use walnut oil, coconut oil, flax seed oil, raw linseed oil or mineral oil.

Get rid of smells with lemon and salt

Over time wooden products can begin to absorb food smells. To freshen them up we suggest a simple method of using half a lemon and some salt. Place some salt on the product and gently scrub the lemon half on the wood surface allowing the salt to break down. Wipe your board clean and you are good to go!

Keep in a stable environment

It is important to keep all wooden products in consistent stable conditions to minimize the affects of temperature and moisture changes. Keeping moisture in wood is important for longevity, so avoid placing items like cutting boards too close to heat sources such as stoves.
